iEat Green Invites you to Cook Dinner Tonight at 5pm! John Ikerd Joins Bhavani on PRN to Discuss the Current Pandemic and Its Impact on Our Food System!

Hi Everyone,

iEat Green’s Zoom Cooking Classes are continuing and gaining momentum! Please join us for “Let’s Cook Dinner Together” TONIGHT at 5!

During this Covid19 pandemic, iEat Green continues to offer a weekly Wednesday night, “Let’s Cook Dinner Together” cooking class on Zoom. Tonight we will be making Miso Vegetable Chowder with Wakame and Ramen Noodles, along with a Balsamic Salad Dressing that you can put on a salad of your choice. This is my “Go To” meal anytime I am feeling run down and need an immunity boost! You can feel the health benefits in every delicious bite! Beginning at 5 pm, EST, we will chop, cook, drink, and have fun, while getting dinner on the table! Please sign up, so I can send you the recipe ahead of time, and you can have most of the ingredients on hand. The recipes are flexible, so if you don’t have all of the ingredients, you can substitute something else or leave it out.

Please register in advance here for this Zoom Cooking Class

Because I want these classes to be accessible to everyone, there is no charge. However, if you would like to contribute to offset my expenses, it would be much appreciated. You can make a contribution here.

My guest this week on the Progressive Radio Network is John Ikerd, Author of Sustainable Capitalism and Crisis and Opportunity.

John Ikerd is a Professor Emeritus of Agricultural Economics at the University of Missouri in Columbia. I invited John on to talk about the current pandemic and his take on it’s impact on our food system. John’s experience and expertise in agricultural economics will offer a perspective on how to feed everyone without being dependent on factory farms.

John was raised on a small dairy farm in southwest Missouri and received his BS, MS, and Ph.D. degrees in agricultural economics from the University of Missouri. He worked in private industry for a time and spent thirty years in various professorial positions at North Carolina State University, Oklahoma State University, University of Georgia, and the University of Missouri before retiring in early 2000.

Since retiring, he spends most of his time writing and speaking on issues related to sustainability with an emphasis on economics and agriculture. His six books are available through Amazon.com, via http://johnikerd.com/books.

In 2014, Ikerd was commission by the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations to write the regional report, “Family Farms of North America,” in recognition for the International Year of the Family Farming. He currently resides with his wife, Ellen, in Fairfield, IA.

Please join us on Thursday for a discussion about the implications of the current Covid-19 crisis, its impact on the food system, and the right of every individual to have access to healthy food.
