Beverly Naidus Merges Art with Socially Conscious Activism!
Hi Everyone,
Yesterday I had an awesome interview with Beverly Naidus about her art work and her inspiration to share and encourage political activism with her students. Beverly has been teaching art for most of her adult life. For the past 17 years, she designed an innovative, studio arts curriculum, Art for Social Change, at the University of Washington, Tacoma. Through collaborative, community-based art projects, Beverly has taken a political stand against racism, anti-feminism, environmental destruction, and other social issues.
Her book, Arts for Change, has inspired a generation of young artists to create art with a social conscience for making the world a better place. Her latest project will be teaching independently and co-directing an arts program focused on climate and racial justice with the non-profit, SEEDS (Social Ecology Education and Demonstration School).
If you missed our interview, you can listen to it here.
