April 23rd, Join the New School at Commonweal for the “Roots of Resilience in an Age of Crisis” Speaker Series
April 23, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
The Small Planet Institute is partnering with The New School at Commonweal for a virtual speaker series this spring focused on the Roots of Resilience in an Age of Crisis: Land, Seeds, and Water. This series features leading thinkers and doers for deep conversations about the interconnectedness of these crises and how we find our way out.
The series launches on Friday, April 23rd with Stolen Land: The Struggle for Rematriation. In this wide-ranging conversation, we’ll hear from UCSF Associate Professor of Medicine, Dr. Rupa Marya, along with A-dae Romero-Briones of First Nations Development Institute who will discuss efforts around the country to take on the aftermath of centuries of government-sanctioned and led land dispossession and cultural decimation. Together with host Anna Lappé, Rupa and A-dae will share strategies toward a vision to protect and uplift Native agroecological traditions, including efforts to rematriate thousands of acres of land across the country.
