Most of you know that lead is a dangerous neurotoxin and that it is especially dangerous to children, but did you know that most old school buildings still have their lead pipes intact? I remember bringing this up to my local school board over 20 years ago, and they didn’t want to hear about it. They were afraid of opening up a Pandora’s box. Well the problem has not gone away, it has only gotten worse.

Children spend many hours a day in school, so having safe drinking water is critical to their development. (It is also important to remove lead pipes from homes and apartment buildings, but that has to wait for another day.)

Please Take Action by asking Governor Hochul to sign a bill into law that will protect the health of children in New York, by getting lead out of school drinking water.
