Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all managing to stay warm in this Polar Vortex! By the time you all get this newsletter, I will be on the bus to Albany, to participate in a rally at the State Capital, to make sure Governor Cuomo knows that we want to keep Fracking out of New York State. The pressure is on, and we can’t let up! The results of what Fracking can do to people’s health, to the environment, and to the communities surrounding the sites, are all in, and it is not a pretty picture. Please call the Governor’s office today, and let them know how you feel!
On another note, I wanted to share with you my disappointment in an article on the front page of Sunday’s NYTimes. It was titled, “On Hawaii, a Lonely Quest for Fact”. The sad thing is that the article did not do the research necessary, to confirm all of the statements it made. It mentioned how the French study that was done last year by Dr. Seralini had been debunked. The only reason it was debunked, was because the publishing company of Food and Chemical Toxicology created a new position, Associate Editor for Bio-Technology, and they hired a former Monsanto employee, Richard Goodman, and he had the study debunked. The reasons they sited for pulling the study was not valid! The article also mentioned that Monsanto has never sued a farmer for cross contamination, and that is just not true! I could go on and on, but I won’t. It is unfortunate that a reporter for the NY Times could be so negligent in her reporting.
Tomorrow, I am very excited to be interviewing Adam Weissman, an organizer from Global Justice for Animals and the Environment and TradeJustice NY Metro. I invited him on to talk about the Fast Track Trade Policy Agreement, known as TPP, that will impact all of us in countless way. We hear about so many things in the news, and it’s hard to pay attention to all of them, but the TPP has so many negative implications for all of us, that I thought it was really important for me to get an expert on my show to tell us more about it, and how it will effect the food we eat. Please join me on Thursday, for this very important show.
