Hi Everyone,
The past two weekends, I spent the mornings at the Port Washington Farmers Market, talking to people about the philosophy of Slow Food, and letting them know that we have a local chapter right here in Huntington. It was so nice meeting new people and talking about the 3 basic principles of Slow Food: Good, Clean and Fair. Good for your body, Clean for the environment, and Fair labor practices for the workers and growers. Slow Food Huntington has events coming up, the next one being this Friday to celebrate the Summer Solstice at Restoration Farm in Bethpage.
iEat Green’s Seasonal Cooking Classes are right around the corner, June 26th, July 3rd and July 18th. Save your spot by registering at?http://ieatgreen.eventbrite.com
Monday was awesome! Over 3,000 people gathered in Albany, for an Anti-Fracking Rally, on the east lawn of the Capital, to let the Governor know that we don’t want Fracking in New York State. Seeing “Democracy in Action” is truly inspiring. Save the Date, July 29th, for the next Rally in Washington, D.C. to oppose the Keystone XL Pipeline. There will be buses! Stay tuned for more information!
Tomorrow, my guest on the Progressive Radio Network will be Eleanor Sterling, the Director of the American Museum of Natural History’s Center for Biodiversity and Conservation (CBC). I was so impressed by her latest exhibit, Our Global Kitchen: Food, Nature, Culture, because it brought the issues of food production, transportation and the environment into the mainstream consciousness. If you haven’t seen the show yet, I suggest you do, because it is closing on August 11th. Please join me on Thursday, as I interview Eleanor, and learn more about the work she does in the Center for Biodiversity and Conversation.
