Preparations for our Community Thanksgiving Feast for the Homeless; An Interview with Josh Buswell-Charkow, Executive Director of Green Corps

Hi Everybody,

Every year, when we turn the clocks back, I sink into a temporary state of depression. I can’t stand it, when it is dark at 5:00 pm, because I always feel like the day is over way too quickly, and I have so much more to do! I love being outdoors in my garden, and I know that the gardening season is coming to an end.

However, with the turning of the clocks back, comes my time of gearing up for the upcoming holiday season, beginning with Thanksgiving for the Homeless, straight through until the New Year! Yikes! For all those who have participated in the past, prepping and cooking for the Thanksgiving Feast, please let me know if you are available again this year, and I will send you a sign up sheet. For those of you new to iEat Green and our community service endeavors, every year, for the past 20 years, iEat Green coordinates a community effort to bring a Traditional Thanksgiving Feast and Christmas event, to those in our community who are less fortunate than us,? and can use a lift during the holiday season.

As part of these events, we do a huge coat drive to bring as many coats and winter clothing items to the needy community around Rufus King Park. I would like to ask all of you to help us in this effort by gathering the coats and winter clothing items from friends, family, schools and co-workers, so that we can share them with those that need them. We need all sizes and shapes, boys, girls, men and women!

If you are interested in helping to cook for this event, please send me an email at Bhavani@iEatGreen.com, and I will send you the sign up sheet. The date for Thanksgiving is Tuesday, November 25th, with prepping starting the weekend before, and our Christmas event will be on Tuesday, December 23rd, with prepping on Sunday and Monday the 21st and 22nd. I look forward to sharing this holiday time of service with many of you!
