An Interview with Miche Bacher, Chef & Author of “Cooking with Flowers”

Hi Everybody,

This past week, I got to do a little traveling to visit family in Detroit and Cincinnati. While in Detroit, I got a personal tour of D-Town Cooperative Farm from Malik Yakini, the farm’s founder and organizer of the IMG_1384Detroit Black Community Food Security Network. It was very impressive to see how much they are doing while still struggling with many logistical problems like no electricity and families of ground hogs. The spirit of the farm was very alive and peaceful!

This week, my guest on the Progressive Radio Network is Miche Bacher, chef and author of a beautiful, new cookbook called Cooking with Flowers. This is the first?brides-magazine-wedding-cake-ideas-025book I have seen that actually uses flowers for flavor, both in sweet and savory dishes, and not just for decoration. Her bakery, Mali B Sweets, in Greenport, Long Island, has been using flowers to enhance their baked goods for years. One of Miche’s wedding cakes was featured in Brides Magazine as one of America’s most beautiful cakes. Please tune in and discover all the creative ways in which we can make food even more stunning by using flowers.
