Fortunately, Cuomo’s Department of Environmental Conservation can stop the pipeline by denying a required water quality permit. The deadline for Cuomo to deny the permit is May 16.
Momentum is building against the Williams pipeline. On March 20, scores of elected officials, including Comptroller Scott Stringer and Council Speaker Corey Johnson, denounced the project at a City Hall press event., During the public comment period, thousands of public comments were submitted against the pipeline to the Cuomo administration.
