Long Island CSA Fair
Saturday, March 13th! (Raindate, Sunday, March 14th) from 11am – 3pm
If the Covid pandemic has taught us anything, it is that our food system is in desperate need of repair, and that our local farmers are doing a great job!
NOFA-NY (Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York), Slow Food North Shore, and iEat Green are bringing all of the farmers together for an outdoor “Farmers Market” to shop for the CSA program that’s right for you. Over 20 farms from across Long Island will be participating. This will be a great opportunity to meet the farmer, and to learn more about each individual CSA program, allowing you to choose the perfect program for you and your family. Some programs offer just produce, while others have “add on” options like fruit, flowers, cheese, bread, eggs, meat and fish. Community Supported Agriculture supports local farmers by purchasing a weekly share of the harvest and paying up front, giving the farmer the financial support at the beginning of the season when they need it. Some programs offer payment plans so you do not need to pay all up front. Either way, CSA’s are one of the best ways to get fresh organic produce at fair prices! We all know that eating more fruits and vegetables, and supporting local, sustainable agriculture, is great for your health, the planet, and our local economy.
Where: Sisters of St. Joseph Farm, 1725 Brentwood Road, behind Building #4, Brentwood, Long Island
When: Saturday, March 13th, (raindaye- Sunday, March 14th)
The fair is free and open to all. You can come for a few minutes, or stay for the whole day!
Long Island’s Green Street Food Truck will be serving up delicious, vegan and gluten free foods and Mike’s Knife Sharpening Truck will be there, so bring your knives!
