September 18th, Join Slow Food North Shore and the Cinema Arts Centre for a Free Documentary Screening of ‘Farming The Future: Farm Life on Long Island’

September 18, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free
The Cinema Arts Centre and St. Joseph’s Farms at CSJ Brentwood will be presenting another Free and Fun family-friendly evening at the movies! Slow Food North Shore will once again be inviting our community to join in on the fun. This is a free outdoor screening of the local documentary, FARMING THE FUTURE: FARM LIFE OF LONG ISLAND.

The screening event will feature a tour of St. Joseph’s Farms at CSJ Brentwood, a Q&A with local experts, (including me!) food trucks, a live Blues jam featuring musicians from The Sound Cellar, a movie-poster sale, tabling with local organizations, (including Slow Food), a playground for the kids, and more!

Slow Food North Shore would like to encourage everyone to bring their own picnic (with a little extra to share.) The bounty from the garden this time of year is exceptional, and the creations we can make when using fresh, seasonal ingredients will have your taste buds singing! Remember to bring picnic blankets, plates, cups and utensils, chairs and bug spray!

Farming the Future: Farm Life on Long Island celebrates the enduring way of life, work ethic, and value system of Long Island family farmers, whose rural heritage spans more than three centuries, and chronicles their struggles with everything from weather and suburban sprawl to competition from abroad. Narrated by actor William Baldwin, a Long Island native, the film also features an interview with Farm Aid president and music legend Willie Nelson.
