September 5th, Rosh HaShana Sourdough Einkorn & Wild Harvested Bread Baking Event

September 5, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

$36.00
Bake Rosh Hashanah Einkorn & Wild-Harvested Breads

Join Eli Kaufman from ‘Bread of the Earth Bakery’ on Sept 5 to bake festive Rosh Hashanah sourdough round braided challah for your holiday table, and wild-crafted gluten-safe bread as we prepare for Shmittah, the 7th year of Shabbat for the Earth.

Prepare for this festive time of renewal by reconnecting with ancient traditions of sourdough bread from fresh-milled whole grains. Learn about the 7th year cycle of Shmittah by baking with wild-harvested cattail pollen and acorn flour gathered by Eli on her farm in Western Mass.

Since, as with most of the planet, mainstream Jewish festive breads are too often white flour drek, ‘Bread of the Earth Bakery’ will introduce ancient grain einkorn breads. Our einkorn is grown on our farm in Western Massachusetts, and in upstate NY. Our home-grown Einkorn Flour is stone-milled at our bakery daily.

Registration $36  on growseed.org

Time: 10 am to 4 pm, Potluck Lunch
Location: 100 5th Ave, Kings Park, NY

‘Bread from the Earth’ is the Hebrew blessings on bread said every Shabbat. ‘Bread OF the Earth’ expresses our kavanah to renew ancient Hebraic food and farming traditions of the Living Earth, with organically-grown, fresh stone-milled flour from the authentic seeds of our Ancient Israeli heritage. Eli worked for 7 years at the Israeli gene bank collecting almost-extinct Eretz Israeli grains.
