Since genetically modified salmon, biotech companies have been grotesquely working to create GMO animals. That is, bioengineering animals by way of making a change to their DNA such that they are created to do something specific or, in the following case, not do something. According to the National Resource Defense Council, Recombinetics, Inc., the “Monsanto of the genetically modified animal industry” wants to genetically engineer pigs to “withstand a miserable life in factory farms.” The NRDC is (as am I!) concerned with how such questionable growth and development might impact regulations by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA). Specifically, the NRDC suggests that some biotech companies want the FDA to keep the from having anything to do with regulating GMO animals, or in this case, pigs which could end up in the U.S. food supply.”

Help Protect Farmers and Stand Up for the Environment: NO to Mega-Merger
“EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt’s corrupt and possibly illegal actions have been all over the news — the transgressions exposed in the past week alone are enough to make my head spin. There’s the reported sweetheart deal with the wife of a fossil fuel lobbyist which saved him thousands of dollars on luxury housing in D.C. … then there’s the recently leaked memo revealing that the EPA sent its employees a list of brand new talking points on climate — statements that downplay the links between human activity and climate change. That part is no surprise, given Pruitt’s well-earned reputation as a staunch climate denier.” – Rhea Suh, President, NRDC
