Yesterday, I interviewed Toyin Coker, from The Permaculture Project GTA (Greater Toronto Area.) I was amazed and inspired by the community they have built, founded on the principles of permaculture, and infused with the spirit of love. They have created the “barn raising experience”, which they call “permablitz”, in the context of creating beautiful, working gardens for the homeowner and the community. Each “permablitz” is led by a team leader, and a group of volunteers, who assess the property and come up with a unified design, complete with fruit trees, edible flowers and vegetables for everyone to enjoy. I would love to grow our Slow Food Chapter, so that we could have a group of volunteers available to help anyone who would like to set up a garden and grow food for themselves and the greater community. If? this idea sounds intriguing to you, please listen to the show, and get inspired by the work Toyin is doing in Toronto!
