Hi All,

This week, I interviewed Ashley Hunt Martorano, who is the co-chair of the Long Island chapter of the grassroots organization, Citizens Climate Lobby. I am so glad there are people like Ashley working to raise awareness about climate change, and fighting to create laws that will benefit us all and our planet! The focus of Citizens Climate Lobby, and the only thing they focus on, is climate change, plain and simple! There are many other environmental issues, but all of them effect climate change, and that is why they have focused in on this one huge problem. The best solution they came up with, is to push Congress into creating a law that would impose a carbon tax to the companies selling fossil fuels, but in return, take the generated money from the tax, and return it to the middle class and poorer consumer, in a dividend check. By doing this, the cost of fossil fuel will include all of the real costs that can be attributed to the burning of oil, and the environmental impact it has, and allow the costs for renewable energy to become cheaper and more competitive.
