iEat Green is Exploring “iDrink Green” with This Week’s Guest, Shanna Farrell, Author of “The Good Drink” on PRN

Hi Everyone,

This past weekend we celebrated the marriage of my son and now daughter in-law. There was a lot of love, laughter, dancing, eating and of course, drinking, under a beautiful tent in the Hudson Valley. As I was standing at the bar, looking at all the colorful bottles, I couldn’t help but think about this week’s guest, Shanna Farrell. Shanna just came out with a new book, The Good Drink, a book devoted to the stories behind the drink, and the how, where, and by whom the grain was grown. It seems that finally, the good food movement is starting to carry over to the good drink movement, and a trend of high end, niche spirits have entered the market. Join us on Thursday and find out what is really in that drink you love, and learn about how the farm to table movement is influencing the drinks being served.

Shanna is an interviewer at UC Berkeley’s Oral History Center, where she works on a wide variety of projects and specializes in drink cultural and environmental history. She is also the author of Bay Area Cocktails. Her writing has appeared in Imbibe magazine, Life & ThymePUNCH, and The San Francisco Chronicle. She holds Master’s Degrees from both New York University and Columbia University. I hope you can join us!
