Hi All,
This weekend is the beginning of our community coming together to create a huge event for our neighbors in need. We will be preparing a full Homemade Thanksgiving Feast, along with our annual coat giveaway, for individuals and families in Jamaica, Queens. Before we get to that point, I need to reach out to all of you, and ask for your help in gathering coats, and warm weather items, for our giveaway. We serve over 600 people, so we need lots of coats!! Also, I want to plant the seed for our Christmas event, which will be held on December 22nd. For that event, in addition to more coats, we gather new (and almost new) toys, stuffed animals and gifts for the holidays. Last year I started the Jewelry Clean-Out Giveaway, which encourages everyone to go through their jewelry boxes, and polish up all of those earrings and bracelets that you never wear, and put them in a box, so they can be given as a gift to to someone who will adore it! It was a big success, but I know we can do even more. I also gather toiletries items to give away, so you can bring those over too. If you want to arrange to drop off coats, please email me at Bhavani@iEatGreen.com. This week, my guest on the Progressive Radio Network is Peter Henry, from Consider Bardwell Farm, to talk about their award winning raw milk cheeses, and the history behind the farm. Consider Bardwell Farm is in West Pawlet, Vermont, and they make handmade cheese from goat and cow milk. Their animals graze on organic pastures to produce the sweetest milk and tastiest cheese. Their raw milk cheese is all antibiotic and hormone free, and nutritionally complete. It was a standout at this years TEDx Manhattan event, and I wanted to share their story with all of you. Please join us on Thursday for what promises to be an intriguing story!
