iEat Green is Joining the GMO Labeling Rally in Albany; Monsanto Protection Again?; An Interview with Gene Baur, President of The Farm Sanctuary

Hi Everyone,

Next Tuesday, I will be joining Food and Water Watch, along with other progressive organizations for a rally in Albany, to help convince our legislators that We Have the Right to Know What is in Our Food! Please sign up for the bus, and help us put the pressure on. We really have a chance to make this a law!

I just finished reading the article in the NY Times on the piece of legislation that the House of Representatives passed, that protects Monsanto from being sued for damages from years of polluting our environment with PCB’s. It’s infuriating! I remember writing about it last year when it was being sneaked into the bill, and passing around a petition to sign, in the hopes of preventing it from happening. Fast forward one year later, and the Monsanto Clause is written into the Bill! This is Monsantodifferent then the Monsanto Protection Act, which is another bill that would prevent States from passing mandatory labeling laws for GMO’s. Right now, Congress is trying to revamp the EPA’s Toxic Substances Control Act, and The Monsanto Clause is a paragraph that was added into the bill that protects Monsanto from any legal liability, for human, wildlife, or environmental destruction the company may have caused as a result of PCBs. Unfortunately, this reminds us that we have to keep up the pressure at all times, to remind Congress that they are working for us, and not the big, multi billion dollar companies like Monsanto!

Please join me this week, as I interview Gene Baur, the president of the Farm Sanctuary, and author of,  Living the Farm Sanctuary Life. The Farm Sanctuary’s mission is to protect farm animals from cruelty, and to inspire change in the way society views and treats farm animals. They also promote a compassionate vegan lifestyle. The Farm Sanctuary will also be celebrating their 30th year Gene Bauranniversary with an Anniversary Tour, starting on March 11th in New York City!
