Hi Everybody,
I can’t believe it has already been one year since the
2017 March for Science! The current administration, and the Environmental Protection Agency, have spent the past year trying to denounce and prevent science based information from informing any of the policies they put forth. It’s ludicrous! Scott Pruitt is an idiot!
His decision to disallow qualified
scientific experts from providing evidence-based information as members of the EPA
science adviser boards, has set the health of our country and our environment back years. Trump has now nominated a coal lobbyist, Andrew Wheeler, to fill the number two spot, which would add to the catastrophic condition of the agency, especially if Pruitt ends up being ousted due to his poor judgement and performance. Please
sign the petition and let your voices be heard! And please join the
March for Science this Saturday in DC, NYC and
other locations around the country!
Last night, I had the pleasure of joining
LI University for their Annual Sustainability Dinner, where
Congressman Tom Suozzi addressed the attendees, and applauded the work being done by the University. LIU is building up their
Sustainability Degree Programs and are looking to add a Food Studies Program in the next year or two. Stay tuned for more info!!
This week, my guest on the Progressive Radio Network is
Jessie Breslau, Co-Founder and Project Manager at
Foodshed.io. Foodshed.io is an organization connecting sustainable producers to local wholesale markets, and
Jessie is helping to make that happen.
Foodshed.io‘s mission is to improve access to local food by supporting the good food movement, and keeping dollars in the local economy. Jessie’s experience working on urban and rural farms in the United States and abroad, helps to inform the work she is doing. She studied Agricultural Development at Cornell University with a focus on sustainable agriculture and community development. Jessie is also the manager of an urban farm in Bushwick called
Feedback Farms, which is a member of the NYC AgTech Collective. Please join me on Thursday to learn more about the work Jessie is doing with
Foodshed.io.
