Hi Everyone,
I wanted to let you know that I will be presenting my Cooking Demo, “One Wok, Three Meals”, at the 2018 NOFA-NY Winter Conference “Healthy People, Healthy Planet,” on Jan. 19th in Saratoga Springs, NY. The Conference is all weekend long, but my demo is on Friday! Please check out the conference website for all the wonderful speakers, workshops, events and registration info. If you register by Friday, December 15th, you can receive the Early Bird special! This is a really special event, and you don’t want to miss it!
I know it still feels like we just finished Thanksgiving, but believe it or not, this coming weekend is the start of my cooking extravaganza for the River Fund’s Holiday Party in the Park! Every year, for the past 23 years, iEat Green partners up with the River Fund-NY Food Pantry, to bring a delicious hot meal to those in need, along with coats, blankets and Santa, distributing holiday gifts for the children! I could use everyone’s help in collecting coats and cold weather attire in all sizes for those in need, along with items that can be shared as gifts. A few years ago, I started collecting jewelry that you no longer wear. You know, all those earrings, necklaces and bracelets that sit in your jewelry box, taking up room, but are never selected to be worn? This is a great time to unload them. Just polish them up and drop them off at the iEat Green Homestead, along with the coats, and we will box them up and distribute them to those that otherwise might not have a holiday gift. If you want to volunteer, you can sign up here.
My guest this week on the Progressive Radio Network is the award winning chef and author, Charles Carroll, who’s new book, The Recipe; A Story of Loss, Love and Ingredients for Greatness is a real treat. He is past president of the World Association of Chefs Societies and has been lauded by five U.S. presidents for his work with U.S. troops abroad. In 2011, he founded Operation HOT (“Honoring Our Troops”), which puts on a series of Vegas-style shows and presents a home-cooked Cajun meal for thousands of U.S. troops in the middle of a war zone. Chef Charles is a luminary of the Culinary Olympics, which is held every four years in Germany, and is currently the executive chef of Houston’s prestigious River Oaks Country Club. I’m very excited to talk with Chef Charles about his new book, The Recipe, and his work as a chef and inspirational speaker. I hope you can join us on Thursday!
