This past Thursday I had the pleasure of speaking with Diego Gerena-Quiñones, about his company, Cargo Bike Solutions Inc, and their collaboration with Transfernation Inc.  Transfernation Inc. is a non-profit organization committed to recovering excess food from cafeterias, restaurants and big events, and delivering it to food pantries across the city. Instead of relying on vans and trucks, Transfernation has been using the services of Cargo Bike Solutions, an eco-friendly way of delivering the food safely, quickly, and without adding to the congestion of traffic and the global footprint. Diego has rescued over 80,000 lbs of food, via bicycle, and that food was put into community food pantries and regenerative compost programs throughout the city. He is looking to expand his fleet of bikes, so that he can rescue more food. If you would like to help, his go-fund me page is here!
