iEat Green Shares Interview with Donna Casali from Beautycounter

Hi All,

I just finished my interview with Donna Casali, who is an Executive Director & Founding Member of Beautycounter. Beautycounter is a B-Corp, which means it’s a business model that cares for the planet, the workers, as well as the bottom line, while promoting their mission. Their mission is “to get safer beauty and personal care products into the hands of everyone.”   We talked about the toxins that are found personal care products, the lack of regulation, and the need for consumers to speak up and let their voices be heard! The last time our country made a law regulating personal care products was 1938! Can you imagine! Not only do we allow chemicals in our products that have not been tested, we allow chemicals in our products that have been tested, and that we know are carcinogenic and hormone disruptors. It’s absolutely unconscionable! They also don’t require products to be screened for heavy metal contamination, which is also a problem. In Canada and the EU, most of these toxic chemicals are outlawed, but in our country, which is pro-business, and not pro-health and the environment, allows these chemicals to be used. These toxic ingredients can impact our overall health, fertility, and lead to reproductive and developmental issues. Basically, we are being poisoned by an industry that is promoting beauty and personal care, and our government is condoning it. Donna has attended meetings with lawmakers both locally and in Washington, D.C., to lobby for better safety standards in personal care products. You can let your voices be heard by signing this petition, and sending a text message to 52886, with a one word message, BetterBeauty. Cornucopia Institute also has some great score cards worth knowing about! Donna has a Clean Beauty and Wellness facebook page, which you join.
