Hi All,
Yesterday I had a great conversation with Wen-Jay Ying, the founder and CEO of Local Roots NYC, a small business that has revolutionized the way New Yorker’s think about CSA’s. Through their Farm Share, which you can subscribe to online, you can sign up not just for vegetables, but for locally sourced and organically raised meats, eggs, dairy, and fruit. Everything they source comes direct from farms within 2 hours of NYC. Subscribers have the choice of either picking up at a neighborhood bar or cafe or having it delivered directly tom their door. Another thing that sets them apart from most CSA’s, is that you don’t need to make a 6 month commitment up front, you can sign up for just 3 months at a time, or you can order ala carte and just try it out for a few weeks and see how it works for you. It’s a customized farmers market brought right to you. And if you’re like most New Yorker’s, you can put your subscription on hold when you travel!
