Hi All,
Yesterday was the Rally and Press Conference in Hicksville to Oppose the Williams Pipeline, and to participate in the public meeting that National Grid was hosting. The purpose of the meeting was to show the public how much more energy Long Island will need going forward, and to show their proposals for getting there. Needless to say, as I walked around the room, I did not see anything that talked about wind energy or solar energy! Not one!!
National Grid knows that New York just passed the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, which requires by law, that we reduce our use of fossil fuels and install 6,000 megawatts of solar by 2025 and 9,000 megawatts of wind energy by 2035. How do they think we are going to get there if all they propose is more fracked gas and pipelines? This is a public issue and we all need to participate in letting our voices be heard. We need hundreds of thousands of people to show up at these events, not just the 40-50 people that showed up yesterday. Please consider getting involved!
