Hi All,
This month, Slow Food USA is launching their annual membership drive, encouraging everyone who is interested in the Slow Food movement, to come on board and help support the important work that Slow Food USA does. I remember the first time I heard about Slow Food, I almost cried! I couldn’t believe there was an organization dedicated to all the food issues that I was passionate about! Sustainable agriculture, preserving biodiversity in our vegetables, raising awareness about our broken food system, fair labor issues, the inhumane practices of commercial slaughter houses, the over use of antibiotics and hormones in our food, transparency and the right to know what is in our food, GMO’s, over fishing, pesticides and herbicides polluting our land and water ways, to name just a few! All the while, celebrating the pleasures of the table and the joy of coming together for a shared meal with family and friends. I love to cook, and I love sharing that love with all of you! As Chair of Slow Food North Shore, I invite you all to consider joining your local Slow Food Chapter, and support this very important work! For those of you with limited funds, Slow Food USA is offering a one day opportunity to join and “Pay What you Can!” On September 15th, you can pay what you want to become a member! How awesome is that!! You must use this link: https://www.slowfoodusa.org/give-what-you-can. Also, on September 16th, SFUSA is offering a free tote or tee shirt to the first 50 people who join with a family membership!
This Thursday, it is my pleasure to have filmmaker, Costa Boutsikaris on my show, to talk about his documentary film, Inhabit. Inhabit is a film about permaculture, an ecological approach to designing gardens, farms and habitats that is in harmony with nature. Costa, along with his co-producer, Emmett Brennan, took off on a permaculture adventure tour, visiting over 20 sites in a range of rural, suburban, and urban environments. They explored a variety of responses to local and global challenges from issues of food, water, and medicine, to governance, economy, and culture, all through the lens of Permaculture. This film is a culmination of their journey. Please join me on Thursday, to learn more about Permaculture, and to share in their remarkable adventure.
Remember, my show is recorded live, every Thursday, from 10-11 am, EST. To tune in, navigate to PRN.fm and click the “Listen Live” button on the left.
