iEat Green Welcomes Back Wenonah Hauter, Founder of Food and Water Watch, and Author of Frackopoly

Hi Everyone,

Last night, iEat Green, along with Slow Food North Shore, celebrated the Summer Solstice with a pot-luck, music extravaganza, that brought together a multi generation gathering of people who care about the foods we eat, and how they are produced. Everyone brought a dish to share, or a bottle of wine, and we talked, ate, danced, played volleyball IMG_9101and listened to some amazing music from some of our most talented musician friends. We were joined by Dave Berg on Guitar, Tia Jerkins on Bass, Alexandra Baltarzuk on Sax, Tim Kelly on Drums, Chuck Ventresca on Harmonica, and Amy Peters with her lovely voice. It was an awesome IMG_9115event. Thank you to everyone who came out, and especially to my husband who goes along with me and supports me in using our homestead to help create community and to spread the good food movement!

This Thursday, Wenonah Hauter will be returning to the iEat Green with Bhavani show, to talk about her new book, Frackopoly. As most of you know, I have been talking about the dangers of Fracking for years, and in Wenonah’s new book, she delves into the corporate interests behind the Fracking industry, and how this process of extracting gas and oil from deep within the earth’s shale rock is not only disruptive to the local towns, but it is 1605_WHsite-WYSIWYG_Wenonah-Hauter-2011-Blue-Portraitpoisoning our fresh water resources, releasing radiation into the atmosphere, and making people sick. Wenonah Hauter is the Founder of Food and Water Watch, which is a non-profit, public interest organization, that has been a leader in the campaigns to ban fracking, label GMO’s, promote renewable energy, and protect our water systems. In 2013, Wenonah joined me to talk about her book release of Foodopoly, which was an exposé of our broken food system and the corporations that are controlling it. On Thursday, we will talk about many of the same issues, but it will be focused on the Fracking industry. Please join us if you can!
