Hi All,
I am very excited to have as my guest this week, Dr. David Wallinga. Dr. Wallinga is a Minnesota physician who has spent the bulk of his career as the self-described doctor to the nation’s broken food system. Long before the local foods movement took off, Wallinga was writing about the myriad ways in which the typical America diet is bad for us – not only in terms of what we eat but especially in terms of how that food is produced, harvested, processed and shipped. Wallinga’s worked on why so many industrial toxins have come to pollute the food chain, and how those pollutants often impact the greatest on the most vulnerable Americans. In his current job with the Natural Resources Defense Council, Wallinga works on the enormous overuse of human antibiotics on factory farms and feedlots in the U.S., and how that threatens not only the health of the nation but the future of modern medicine. Please join me on Thursday, as we delve into our broken food system, and discuss ways in which we can protect ourselves from the hidden dangers that lie within.
