Hi Everyone,
I am so happy, looking outside as my bulbs push their way through the earth, and decorate my home with the colors of the rainbow! Welcome Spring! Even though this winter was not a difficult one, I am never sad to see it go! I have to admit, that I prefer Spring, Summer and Fall. Of course, getting back out into the garden, and getting it ready for planting is a huge job, but I am looking forward to it. I’m ready to plant my snow peas and sugar snap peas outside, and I’m hoping to start some seedlings indoors. My husband spent a few hours this weekend checking out our bees, and I am happy to report that all 3 hives made it through the winter and are already making honey! We installed 6 new frames that we purchased through a Kickstarter Campaign, Honey on Tap, that allows the honey to be extracted through a drip faucet at the bottom of the hive. I’ll let you know how it works after we try it, but we are excited! For those of you who do not grow your own vegetables, it’s not too late to join a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) Farm, and sign up for a weekly share of garden fresh, organic vegetables. There are many CSA’s in our area, and you can find them by logging onto the website, www.localharvest.com
This week, as we welcome in Spring, I’m so happy to have Edwina Von Gal, the founder of Perfect Earth Project, as my guest on the Progressive Radio Network. Perfect Earth Project is a non-profit organization that promotes toxin-free land management around the world. PEP operates from offices in East Hampton, New York. They raise consciousness about the dangers of synthetic, toxic, lawn and garden chemicals to humans and the environment, and educate homeowners and professionals in nature-based techniques that provide beautiful, safe results. As we look towards Spring, and making our gardens and lawns look beautiful, remember that it can be done without the use of synthetic toxins. Learning about organic, land care management supports biodiversity and carbon capture and will help us get through the climate changes that we are already starting to feel. Perfect Earth Project inspires action, and I’m so happy to have Edwina on the show to tell us more about it.
