Hi All,
The Pro Bono Partnership is a non profit organization that offers free legal council to other non profit organizations in the New York tri-state area. Yesterday, I had the privilege of interviewing the director, Maurice Segall, about the work they do and the type of organizations they help. Basically, any non profit organization qualifies for their services, and the process is quite simple. You can apply for their services online at www.probonopartner.org, and someone from the organization will get back to you. Because they can pull lawyers from a myriad of law firms, they can find the right lawyer for the specific job, one that specializes in the type of legal services needed. The one thing they do not do is litigation. Their hope is that they can provide legal services before an organization might be sued. The services range from contract reviews and leases, to real estate and bankruptcy. The organizations they help range from food pantries, shelters, and children services, to health related organizations, environmental groups, and artistic groups. They are looking to expand their reach in the Long Island area, so if you are a non profit organization, or know of a non profit organization on the Island that could benefit from the Pro Bono Partnership’s services, please help us spread the word.
