iEat Green’s Thanksgiving is in Less than 2 Weeks! Only 10 Days Till the Cooking Begins!!! Have you Signed Up Yet?? Susan Futrell, Author of “Good Apples” Joins Bhavani on PRN!

Hi Everyone,

I know we all say time speeds up as we get older, but OMG!! I can’t believe in less than 2 weeks over 100 volunteers will come together at the iEat Green Homestead to create a memorable, home cooked Thanksgiving Feast with the River Fund NY, for our neighbors that are struggling to put food on the table. It is the love that keeps me going, the outpouring of spirit from all of my volunteers and donors, that makes this event possible. If you haven’t joined us before, there is still room in most shifts. I promise you will get out from it more than you give! It’s amazing what we can accomplish when we work together! And did I mention, children are welcome too. It is a wonderful thing to do as a family of all ages. Please sign up here!

We need coats, hats, gloves, boots, scarfs, blankets, sleeping bags, towels, and toiletries to share with those in need during our Thanksgiving event. Please consider collecting coats at your place of work, your school or even your neighborhood. You can drop it off anytime between now and Nov. 19th!

My guest this week on the Progressive Radio Network is Susan Futrell, the Director of Marketing for the nonprofit, Red Tomato, and author of the new book, Good Apples; Behind Every Bite. Susan has worked with food businesses, nonprofit organizations and farms in marketing and distribution for over 35 years, including over two decades in the natural and organic foods industry. She is a freelance writer, essayist, and consultant, and has an MFA in nonfiction writing from the University of Iowa. Good Apples is Susan’s first book, and a wonderful debut, weaving the history, labor, production and marketing challenges of bringing an apple to your table. Please join me on Thursday, as Susan sheds some light on the challenges facing our local apple growers.
