Community Solidarity Continues to Provide Free Fresh Food for Those in Need!

Community Solidarity is one of my favorite non-profit organizations and the largest all-vegetarian hunger relief food program in the country! They collect beautiful food from supermarkets, groceries, and bakeries, that otherwise might have been added to the food waste stream, and recovers it, in order to share it with members of the community who are in need. In the past 6 weeks, they have seen their lines at all of their food share locations, (Hempstead, Huntington Station, Wyandanch, Farmingville, and Brooklyn) quadruple! If you know anyone who is in need of food, please let them know about Community Solidarity! They are now giving weekly groceries to over 10k people, and the numbers keep growing! They need our support to keep up their amazing work! Please donate today!

Join Me in Supporting Our Local Farmers by Shopping at Farmers Markets, Farm Stands, and CSA’s!

Spring has finally arrived, and with that comes delicious, local vegetable varieties. If you are still in the market to join a CSA, (community supported agriculture) check out LocalHarvest.org, or plan to start your own garden with purchasing some organic seedlings at the local Farm Stand. Here in Nassau County, we are limited with local, organic farms, but Restoration Farm in Old Bethpage and Crossroads Farm in Malverne, are both offering Farm Stands with seedlings! Many of the local Farmers Markets are waiting to see how the Covid-19 pandemic sorts out before committing to an opening date, but Port Washington’s Farmers Market is scheduled to open on June 13th, and Sea Cliff’s Farmers Market is scheduled to open on May 16th, and both of them are organic!
