Governor Kathy Hochul Establishes a New Climate Justice Fellowship Program in NY State!

The Climate Justice Fellowship will provide professional development training and mentoring for full-time fellows in climate justice. They will focus on candidates residing in disadvantaged communities or from priority populations in an effort to ensure an equitable clean energy transition for all communities. The fellows will work within community based organizations and start-ups, that are committed to addressing Climate Justice.

iEat Green and Slow Food North Shore Joins The Cinema Arts Centre for a Free, Outdoor Documentary Screening of ‘Farming The Future: Farm Life on Long Island’ on Saturday, September 18th from 5-9pm

On September 18th, The Cinema Arts Centre, along with the Sisters of St. Joseph’s in Brentwood, will screen the documentary film, Farming the Future: Farm Life on Long Island.  The film celebrates the rich cultural life of Long Island family farmers, whose work ethics, values and rural heritage spans more than three centuries. Narrated by actor William Baldwin, a Long Island native, the film also features an interview with Farm Aid president and music legend Willie Nelson.

The event will also include a tour of the farms that call The Sisters of St. Joseph their home, and Q & A with local experts ( including Bhavani from iEat Green), a live Blues jam featuring musicians from The Sound Cellar, a movie-poster sale, tabling with local organizations, a playground for the kids, and more!

Bring a picnic with food to share, chairs, blankets, dishes and utensils.

Schedule:
5:00 – Live performance from The Sound Cellar, native plants available from The Long Island Native Plant Initiative (LINPI), food vendors, CAC poster sale, tabling with Strong Youth and other local organizations, and playtime on the playground
7:00 – Introduction to the film and farm by the Sisters of St. Joseph and CAC
7:30 – Outdoor film screening of Farming the Future: Farm Life on Long Island (1 hr)
8:30 – A Q&A with local experts
