Hi All,
OMG! It’s already here! Next week is our Annual Christmas Holiday Celebration for the needy community around Rufus King Park, and I need my volunteers to sign up!!!! Every year, for the past 22 years, I have been organizing volunteers from my community to partner with the River Fund-NY‘s Food Pantry, to create an Outdoor Christmas Party for those members of our community who are struggling with poverty and food insecurity. We will be prepping on Sunday and Monday, Dec. 18th and 19th, at the iEat Green Homestead, and serving on Tuesday, December 20th, in the park. Below is a link to sign up on the schedule:

If you are interested in participating on the day of the event, we are always short on singers to join our Christmas Caroling Group, to serenade the guests and add the sound of holiday music to the event. If you are interested in singing, please email me directly at Bhavani@iEatGreen.com. Our clothing drive continues, so if you didn’t drop off your coats in time for our Thanksgiving event, you have another chance to clean out your closets. We are collecting ALL types of warm clothing, including hats, boots, gloves, blankets and sleeping bags! In addition to gathering clothing, we collect new gifts for children, (or “like new” stuffed animals) and “like new” jewelry, to give to the older children. If you have anything to donate, it can be dropped off at the iEat Green Homestead, 17 Pinetree Lane in Old Westbury. If you prefer to make a tax deductible donation to the River Fund NY ( a 501 c-3 org), you can mail it to; The River Fund- NY , 89-11 Lefferts Blvd., Richmond Hill, NY. 11418. I thank you all in advance for your support in making our Christmas event a success!

My guest this week on the Progressive Radio Network is Amanda Terillo, author of Kitchen Confidence: Improve your Health, Save Money, Waste Less. This guidebook teaches individuals about cooking simple nutritious meals by utilizing leftovers and ingredients on hand. It also provides information about basic nutrition, food storage, food safety and grocery shopping techniques that will help individuals improve their eating habits and waste less food. Amanda is a licensed Dietician, with a masters degree in Sustainable Food Systems, and she uses her skills to help people change how and what they eat to improve their health, while thinking of the impact that their food choices have on society and the planet. Please join us on Thursday, for what promises to be an informative discussion about nutrition and food choices.
Remember, my show is recorded live, every Thursday, from 10-11 am, EST. To tune in, navigate to PRN.fm and click the “Listen Live” button on the left. Also try downloading the PRN mobile app, and take the station with you wherever you go! If you want to call in during the show with any questions for me or my guest, the call in number is 888-874-4888.
If you can’t tune in at that time, you can listen to the show in the PRN archives, or through a direct phone line to my archives. Just dial 1-701-719-0880, and you can listen to the past 5 weeks of shows! Of course you can also access the shows through my website, or through iTunes.
