Forward On Climate Protest – Long Island Bus Tickets
In the context of a rapidly changing climate, the Sierra Club and 350.org are co-sponsoring the Forward on Climate Rally to demand that President Obama creates a strong climate policy. The rally will take place in Washington, DC, during Presidents Day weekend (Sunday, February 17).We will all be playing a pivotal role to make it the largest climate rally in the history of the United States, with an expected attendance of over 20,000.With President Obama about to begin his second term, it is critical that he hears from his constituents about the importance of championing strong climate policy. Superstorm Sandy has reminded us just how vulnerable Long Island can be to climate change. That is why it is critical that Long Island is represented at the rally. There will be a bus departing Long Island to join the rally. The bus will have a two pick up spots the morning of the event. 6 am at the Park and Ride off of Rt.110 in Melville, and at 6:30 Christopher Morely Park, off of the LIE at exit 36.We will be returning directly after the rally. We are asking $35 to cover the cost of the bus but we welcome donations. Any donation will go to cover the cost for someone who can’t afford to go. SPACE IS LIMITED so please sign up quickly if you plan on joining us.

Tell Congress: Reform Our Broken Cosmetics Regulations!
Currently, cosmetics companies can put almost any ingredient they want into personal care products without having to prove that it’s safe. That includes everything from hormone disruptors to carcinogens in products we use every day, such as shampoos and moisturizers. It’s way past time for Congress to step up and reform these broken cosmetics regulations. Environmental Working Group is leading the fight, but they need you to make sure the new Congress hears us loud and clear. We need real reform and strong regulations. The personal care products industry needs to be held to a higher standard. Too often, companies hide important health and safety information behind “trade secret” claims. They should have to show that these claims are reasonable. Click here to demand that Congress act NOW to get dangerous chemicals out of our cosmetics and personal care products!
