HELP CELEBRATE EARTH DAY’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY!
Last September, I joined thousands of New Yorker’s, and hundreds of thousands more around the world for the Youth Climate Strikes — one of the largest collective actions in environmental history.
While we can’t meet in the streets again this year, the need to keep organizing is more urgent than ever.
Coronavirus is showing us the dire consequences of ignoring the scientific consensus on public health — and the climate crisis is no different. We simply cannot ignore the experts who are ringing the alarm bells about the climate crisis, and we need to act now.
So, on the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, we’re inviting you to join with the Youth Climate Strike Coalition, young climate leaders, the NRDC Action Fund, NRDC, and more than 400 other allied groups for Earth Day Live — a 72-hour, action packed digital event happening from April 22 to 24.
This Earth Day, join the digital event!
Divest New York State from all Fossil Fuels!
The campaign to get New York State to divest its pension fund from fossil fuels is building. A financial analysis by 350. org revealed that the pension fund had lost more than $1.5 billion on its investments in 16 tar sands and fracking companies in the last year – a decrease of 60% – with much of the losses coming before the oil price crash and coronavirus pandemic. The fund has more than $12 billion invested in fossil fuel companies according to its last available listing of assets.
Call NYS Comptroller Tom DiNapoli TODAY (or tomorrow, Thursday) at 518-474-4044 and urge him to divest the State Pension fund from fossil fuels. You can also tweet him at @TomDiNapoli or @NYSComptroller.
HELP SCHOOL FOOD SERVICE PROVIDERS GET THE SUPPORT THEY NEED TO FEED THE KIDS IN OUR COMMUNITIES WHO ARE HUNGRY!
School food service workers across the country are working tirelessly on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, but they need our help. Many school food service workers are bagging and distributing thousands of meals every day, without personal protective equipment (PPE). As Congress works on another relief package, it must do more for our schools and the communities who rely on them for meals.
Please email your members of Congress and ask them to help schools and struggling families today.
