Chip in to Fight Back Against Monsanto

80px-Obama_Chesh_2Despite the fact that 90% of Americans want strong GMO labeling, President Obama just signed the weak federal labeling bill into law. Monsanto and the Grocery Manufacturers Association have poured money into getting this bill passed, and the Food & Water Watch is asking for donations to help fight back against this new law. The money will go to overturning the law, mobilizing the movement for clear labeling, and calling attention to the broken regulatory systems of the USDA, EPA, and FDA. If you cannot donate to the Food and Water Watch, call the White House to voice your disappointment that the president sided with corporations instead of listening to the people.

Tell Congress: Don’t gut healthy school lunches!

120px-20111012-FNCS-LSC-0398_-_Flickr_-_USDAgovHigher standards for healthy school meals are an important part of any education system. Children learn best and achieve greater academic success when they’re well fed. Any scale back of student’s access to fruits, vegetables, and whole grains will defeat the goals of effective schooling and healthy communities. The school year is coming around again and we need to keep the momentum building to make sure there are healthy lunches for all kids. Every child deserves and needs a healthy school lunch and snacks, so sign and share this petition with your family, friends, and network of educators, learners, and food activists!
