The NYS Assembly and Senate Ag committees are trying to pass the Soil Health and Climate Resiliency Act this session, and they only have until June 10! They need our help!

 

This bill will create a soil health program under the auspices of the Soil and Water Conservation Committee. It will assist farmers in improving the health of their soil by establishing a climate resilient farming program to provide matching grants to fund projects which reduce methane emissions, implement water management systems on farmland and encourage soil health and resiliency. It benefits organic farmers, as well as conventional farmers, and all of us who enjoy eating local food. 

Together we can pass this bill!

 

Greenpeace just came out with a very short video that sheds light on the environmental impact that single use plastic bottles has on our environment and communities. It also gives a clear mandate for Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, and Nestlé to lead the effort in ridding our society of single-use plastic and to invest in reusable solutions that support a livable world for us all.

Unfortunately, as I learned last week about the connection food companies have with diet companies, the same type of connection exists with bottle companies. Almost all plastic begins as a fossil fuel. These large corporations are in bed with the fossil fuel industry, driving the climate crisis and harming Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Frontline communities living near petrochemical facilities and extraction zones.

More than 10,000 Greenpeace activists have already sent a message to Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, and Nestlé to stop fueling the climate crisis and demand they ditch throwaway plastic made from fossil fuels for reuse and refill solutions. Please join Greenpeace in sending a letter to these corporate polluters, asking them to switch from single use plastic bottles to refillable bottles.
