Take Action to Oppose the New 2,4-D Resistant GE Crops!
The Environmental Protection Agency is considering an application by Dow Chemical Co. to use a combination of glyphosate, the chemical in Monsanto?s Roundup, with 2,4-D, a highly toxic weed killer, on genetically engineered corn and soybeans designed to withstand 2,4-D. If the Dow application is approved, the 2,4-D experiment would roll out on a grand scale: likely on tens of millions of acres, leading to 2,4-D pollution of food, water, residential areas and wildlife habitat.?We need to do everything we can to make sure the EPA keeps this toxic weed killer away from our food and out of our environment. The EPA is now seeking comments from the public and that window is about to close. Before the EPA makes its final decision, the agency?s leadership needs to hear from all of us. Stand with JLI (Just Label It) today to protect human health and the environment: Tell the EPA not to approve Dow?s application of 2,4-D herbicide for use on genetically engineered crops! Tell New York State Lawmakers: Pass the Shared Clean Energy Bill
Solar energy is gaining popularity throughout New York State, but for some, like families and businesses who rent, homeowners with shade trees, and plenty of other New York energy customers are ineligible for solar.? Now state lawmakers are considering an exciting new “Shared Clean Energy” program that would allow these New Yorkers to go solar for the first time. Participants would be able to subscribe to a local renewable energy project and get credit on their utility bills for their portion of the clean power produced.? Shared Clean Energy would make solar work for more of New York – and that means more local clean energy investment, more progress against climate change, and healthier communities. By further increasing our state’s use of solar power, we can also reduce the need for expensive, polluting power plants and build a stronger electric grid that benefits all New Yorkers. Help urge state lawmakers to act quickly to pass the Shared Clean Energy Bill (A.9931/S.7727) so solar can shine for everyone! Click here to take action.?
